Tasting Notes

Layers of sour cherry and ripe dark plum fruit smattered with baking spices, stoney minerality, herbs and earth. Opens up fresh and moves into dark fruit, spices before ending with sour cherry fruit and edgy minerality on the finish. Medium in body with good concentration of fruit this wine moderately priced wine is rated "good value" consistently from one vintage to the next.

Known as the "Barolo of the South" the late-ripening Aglianico variety grows on the high-altitude slopes of the volcanic Vulture Mountain in the southern province of Basilicata. The unique combination of grape variety, soil, climate and traditional winemaking philosophy yields a wine with traditional charm and contemporary quality.

The Vignali Agliancio is best paired with spicy bolognese sauce dishes and lamb roasts with grilled vegetables. Drink now or hold for up to 5 years.
