Tasting Notes

Made from 100% Sangiovese. Alcoholic fermentation was done in stainless steel and then moved into concrete tanks for malolactic fermentation. With this wine, Sangiovese's plush cherry, cranberry, earthy, bloody and herbal fruit shines through. This benchmark example is backed by good acidity and a firm finish. 60,000 bottles produced.

Critical Praise

2018 has not yet been rated but this is what the press wrote about the 2017 vintage:

"Bibbiano has produced a string of successful vintages, with strong showings in 2015, 2016 and here again in 2017, on an upward qualitative trajectory it appears. The latest annata is resinous, firm and still lightly astringent, several years away from prime enjoyment but with very good length and concentration overall. It smells of pine forest and warm earth in the attractive sangiovese style, and displays savoury, old wood character. A structured, powerful wine all in all. Best after 2021.
