Tasting Notes

Dark, straw-yellow colour. Intense, fine and elegantly fruity bouquet reminiscent of peach, apricot, citrus, fruit and acacia flowers. Fresh and fragrant flavour with soft plentifulness, and an elegant, mineral finish.

The work of three generations of vinegrowers has resulted in the passion, knowledge and farsightedness of Bruno Giacosa. An old passion born among the best vineyards of the Langhe territory, in search of grapes to buy, some coming from vineyards successively acquired by Bruno Giacosa himself. The story starts in a simple way, with the native varietals of the Langhe and Roero regions and vineyards cultivated with loving care. It continues with pure, meticulous vinification, with ageing in grand oak barrels and with unforgettable Reserves. But it also includes, naturally enough, the choice not to bottle those mediocre vintages deemed unworthy of vinification. Bruno’s art encompasses passion, love for Nebbiolo and clear judgement but, above all, the utmost respect for his product, its admirers and for the beautiful countryside where he and his family were born and raised.

Critical Praise

2017 has not yet been rated, but the 2015 received 92 points from Wine Advocate:

“The 2016 Roero Arneis was bottled on Saint Valentine’s Day and that’s a fitting touch. Some 140,000 bottles were made, which is more than average. This is a fresh and buoyant wine that is loaded with tangy tropical fruit, pineapple and honeydew melon. The wine’s intensity is exuberant, pronounced and refreshing. Dustings of fine mineral and salty limestone characteristics give the wine a brilliant sense of polish and crispness. Bruna Giacosa tells me the fruit harvested in 2016 was beautiful. She distinctly remembers the perfumes of the Arneis grapes as they came into the winery on the back of a truck during harvest. This is a beautiful white wine. Drink 2017-2020.” - 92+ points (Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 30, 2017)
