Tasting Notes

This wine is currently available at the top "Wine focused" restaurants in Ontario because of it's gorgeous texture and versatility with food.

"Pale straw-yellow in color, elegant and crisp with intense exotic fruit aromas. Grapefruit, gooseberry and wild herbs intermingle on the nose with ample citrus fruit on the palate. This wine has a generous weight, round and in perfect balance.

This wine is perfect to drink by itself or pair it with seafood, chicken, fresh salads and/or cheeses.

Classic Bordeaux Blend:90% sauvignon Blanc,5% Semillon,5% Muscadelle

Château Haut Grelot was established in 1920 in the village of "Les Grelots" Over the last thirty years, the Chateau has expanded their vineyards using the best quality grapes. The " Sauvignon Blanc " grape is ideally suited to the soil and is consistently producing exceptional wines.

Technical data :
Average vineyard age : 25 yrs
Total area : 58 hectares
22 hectares of white grapes
36 hectares of red grapes
Red grapes : Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec
White grapes : Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle, Sémillon

The vineyard is comprised of two soils: sandy-gravelly on the hillsides bordering the Gironde Estuary and sand-clay-silt on the hillsides further inland. “Premières Côtes de Blaye” benefits from an ideal microclimate in which the high level of sunshine and enough rain guarantee the perfect environment for grape production. These conditions bring fruitiness, freshness and vivid aromas to our whites.

They cultivate their vines with great care, using precise, proven techniques. De-budding, side-shoot pruning, defoliation, low yields and green harvesting… all vital to producing the desired grape. The object of these procedures being to spread the grapes on the base of the vine so that they have maximum sunshine and airing, all synonymous with quality in the future wine.

Critical Praise

This wine wins numerous Gold medals annually at prestigious wine competitions such as; Concours de Bordeaux, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and Concours Agricole de Paris.
