Each case contains two bottles of the following wines:

Sparkling:

Perlage Afra Rosé Prosecco Extra Dry 2020, Veneto, Italy. $19.95
Perlage is one of Italy’s first organic sparkling wineries. This off-dry pink Prosecco is based on Glera, with 10-15% Pinot Nero splashed in, from vines 10-20 years old. This had 6 months on lees prior to bottling, with 15 g/L RS.

White:

Sepp Moser Grüner Veltliner Classic 2020, Niederösterreich, Austria. $19.95
Sepp Moser’s Classic range represents wines intended for drinking now, but by no means should be understood as ‘a simple wine’. This majority of the Gruner grapes for this were grown on the steep, rocky loess terraces of Rohrendorf in Kremstal, rich in lime. This is a crisp, bright GV, with green apple, tight pear, on a slender frame. Acidity is shining, and the finish is snappy. Great fun to drink now, especially with green veg or shellfish dishes.

Rosé:

Maçanita Touriga Nacional em Rosé 2020, Douro Valley, Portugal. $21.95
This Touriga Nacional rosé comes from the Cima Corgo, around 200m altitude. Gently crushed grapes were macerated for 3 to 6 hours, before ferment and a short rest in stainless. Pouring a blushing pink hue, this dry rosé rings with wild strawberry, cherry blossoms, tightened with a grippy pink grapefruit pith. Acidity is racy, easily skipping this along the slight palate to a tart finish. Fresh and vibrant, meant for drinking now.

Red:

Suertes del Marqués La Solana 2019, Tenerrife, Canary Islands, Spain. $36.95
La Solana is a single 1.5 hectare vineyard in northern Tenerife, between 350-450m and on clay atop volcanic soils. The family operation Suertes del Marqués organically farms 80-150 year old listán negro here, in the traditional cordón trenzado training system, employing minimal sulphur. After a native ferment in concrete, with 50% whole cluster, this aged 11 months in older French foudres before being bottled unfiltered. After a wave of reduction blows off, this opens into black cherry, black raspberry, broken earth on a scrubby, resinous, balsamic kissed palate. Tannins are long and fine and slightly sticky / gritty, hugging this textural wine through the lingering peppery finish. Such a singular, powerful (at 12.5%) wine.

Ciù Ciù Bacchus 2020, Piceno, Marche, Italy. $17.95
Equal parts Montepulciano and Sangiovese, grown in mixed clay soils 300m on the Marches hills surrounding the towns of Offida and Acquaviva Picena, in Ascoli Piceno province. This unoaked red is meant to be enjoyed in youth, within 2-3 years of release. With an intense and fruit rich nose, this medium to full bodied red is round and supple, with great purity of fruit. The fresh acidity keeps it light on its feet, and the tannins are ripe and silky.

Silvio Carta Serenata Cannonau di Sardegna 2019, Sardegna, Italy. $25.95
Silvio Carta founded his eponymous company in Baratili San Pietro in the 1950’s, devoting himself to making traditional wines and spirits of the region. Sixty years on, Silvio, together with his son Elio, the latter at the head since 1973, still devote themselves to these aims. This comes from 12 year old vines, near the sea, rooted in calcareous soils. It was native fermented in stainless, where it remained for 8-10 months' rest. Spicy, ripe, sun-kissed red fruits fill the dry, savoury palate of this cannonau. Overripe cherry, raspberry, leather, floods the full palate, with sticky, tuggy tannins reflective of the Sardinian sunshine, and a finish of Mediterranean scrub.
