Tasting Notes

The vines for ‘Fregi Barocchi’ are grown on the espalier trellising system; the wine is made from 100% Negroamaro (means “black bitter”, in Italian). The wine was crafted to embrace the classic style of wine from Salento; a blend of tradition, artisanal winemaking techniques and simplicity.

This Negroamaro has great intensity and depth of flavour showing kirsch and raspberry compote. There is a distinct dried earth and leather note to the wine, with dried mushroom and fresh Mediterranean herbs such as bay leaf, marjoram and rosemary. The wine is harmoniously dry, medium-full bodied, with persistent tannins and refreshing acid.
