Tasting Notes

This 100% Cabernet Franc comes from the foothills of Monte Grappa in the Veneto region. Catalta is a labor of love for both Nicola Brunetti and his wife Giulia. The estate was once owned by Nicola's grandfather, and Nicola came back to work the land himself in 2013. With only 5 hectares under vine, part of their land saved for fruit trees and forest land. Catalta is a very small production winery that works exclusively with organic farming practices and native yeasts, and a majority of the farming methods are done by hand. For this cuvée, only 3340 bottles were made.

With 20 days on skins, this wine then sees 11 months in stainless steel tanks. This Cabernet Franc is easy to approach with its smooth raspberry, tart black cherries and fragrant herbaceous notes. In the glass the tart cherries take shape and continue with a balance of tomato leaf. The tannins are semi-firm and persistent making it an excellent wine to pair with food - it is excellent slightly chilled on a summer's day with burgers, ribs, portobellos or brisket from the barbecue as well.
