Tasting Notes

True to its name, this land holds a special place in our hearts. Situated in the Moutere Hills area of the Nelson region, the vineyard sits on ancient Māori tribal land that has been handed down through our tūpuna, ancestors, for hundreds of years. We like to think the wine grown here is not only a gift from the land, but also from our tūpuna.

The 2017 vintage opens with intense ripe dark fruit aroma, then underlined with bright florals and harmonious spicy oak notes. Flavours of red and dark fruits are then balanced with soft, silky tannins resulting in a velvety, long, lingering finish.

VINEYARD: Awatere Valley Marlborough, New Zealand. Blocks: Araroa, Moana, Rotokaro, Taumauri & Tohu. Planted 2002. 19.22 ha. Loam soils varying from shallow to deep silt, and fine sand.
