Tasting Notes

We have two very different vineyards for the Nero d'Avola. The first one, on the sea level, with white lands, rich in limestone. The second vine is high located with soils containing more clay and with medium texture. The quality of our wine is due to its origins in diversified clusters of Nero d'Avola with a very interesting aromatic and varietal complexity. Our harvest starts in late September and ends in early October. Nose: berries, currants and raspberry and a light, pleasant balsamic note. Taste: a warm wine and quite velvety; acidity and tannins are present, but very fine and pleasant in the mouth.
In 2004, a group of young people founded «Addiopizzo», a protest movement against racket – i.e. the «pizzo» - imposed on Sicilian shopkeepers by the local mafia.
The growers of Valdibella belonged to the very first people who adhered to this movement.
To say «No» to the pizzo means to sustain the social equilibrium and the dignity of Sicily.
