Le Sommelier mixed case: Bruno Giacosa (6 bottles)

||||||||||||||||
Tasting NotesThis mixed six pack features two bottles of three wines from legendary Italian producer Bruno Giacosa. Below are the three wines in this case: Roero Arneis DOCG 2019 The Roero Arneis comes from purchased grapes, from Roero’s sandy soils, this was fermented and aged in stainless to preserve the delicate fruit. White flowers, lemon, pear and quince run through the crisp, but concentrated palate. Very elegant drinking now, and will cellar. "Dried peach skin with lemon and crushed stone or cement on the nose. It’s full-to medium-bodied. Lovely, soft texture and richness and a fresh finish with lots of dried fruit. A little richer than usual. " - 92 points James Suckling Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2019 From select vineyards in the villages of Neive, Neviglie, Treiso and Alba, this youthful red was fermented and aged in stainless for 7 months. Finesse from the start, this opens with scented red florals, cherry, red currants, wrapped around a salted plum / cherry core, and finishing with a kiss of mineral salts and kirsch. Tannins are whisper fine, barely outing the perimeter of this medium-bodied red. There's a lightness and effortless here which makes drinking now easy. That said, the articulation of this wine means it will happily cellar over the next couple of years. Amazing value. Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC 2018 From various vineyards in the villages of Monteu Roero, Santo Stefano Roero and Vezza d’Alba, and vines from 20-30 years, this was macerated in stainless, and then aged 14 months in French oak. Subtle and elegant, this long wine is imbued with red fruit and dried roses. Tannins are fine and well-integrated, drawing freshness and purity of fruit to a lengthy finish. |
Critical PraiseOne of the legendary winemakers of the world, Bruno Giacosa joined the family business at the age of 15, representing the third generation of his Langhe winemaking family. Giacosa’s unfailing pursuit of perfection, his unrivaled palate and his intimate knowledge of vineyards in the Langhe quickly drew recognition and helped establish Piedmont as a leading wine region. His legacy rests with daughter Bruna, who continues to uphold her father’s winemaking philosophy to respect traditional techniques while using the best of modern technology. Estimated delivery time is 3-10 business days. |
