During these extraordinary times when we can’t physically travel abroad nor even head to our favourite restaurants, it’s been rare to experience those wonderful moments of wine discovery, when the sommelier or restaurant manager brings you something unexpected, and your palette is changed for life.

With this never-before offered mixed sake case of inspired styles, we hope to do just that. Whether you are completely new to this nuanced, wine-like beverage, or have sampled a bit here and there in the past, these selections - all with an echo of wine in their makeup - were hand-picked to showcase sakes wine drinkers will surely fall in love with. We also want you to taste with a local expert, so the purchase of each mixed case will come with an invitation to an online guided tasting and Introduction to Sake to be held on Wed, June 17th at 7pm.

Masumi ‘Origarami’ Sparkling – From one of the top producers in the country, with over 380 years of brewing history, this very new creation from a famous Nagano producer is a crisp & light sparkler made in the Pet-Nat style

Dewazakura ‘Oka’ Ginjo – Named after the Japanese cherry blossom, this Is one of the defining sakes in the last half-century, paving the way for other premium, aromatic, and elegant styles worthy of being served in a wine glass

Yoshidagura ‘U’ Junmai – This sake exemplifies the local terroir movement in modern sakemaking, a passion project of the young, Next-Gen brewery president, using a rarer local Ishikawa rice and backed with beautiful acidity from the Yamahai technique

Sanzen Junmai Daiginjo – Top-graded sake brewed with the mighty Omachi rice, considered the Pinot Noir of rice varietals - of course not as bold as we’re talking about sake – but generally viewed as a more difficult rice to use. The brewer is located in Okayama, from where Omachi hales

Yoshi no Gawa ‘Toji no Banshaku’ Brewmasters’ Choice Honjozo – The versatile, easy-drinking sake that the kurabito (or brewery worker) would choose after a long day of working at the brewery. From the oldest brewery in Niigata, considered by many as the top sakemaking region in Japan

Ume – a quashable Umeshu, or plum wine, a bit sherry-like with a tartly-sweet and round mouthfeel. Perfect for sipping on a summer evening!
