Tasting Notes

This classic Austrian field blend is a mix of biodynamic cofermented riesling, grüner veltliner, neuburger, weissburgunder, and welschriesling, from both Nussberg (limestone) and Bisamberg (loess). This had 3 hours skin contact and was native fermented and rested in stainless. Juicy white peach, green herbs, pear skin, subtle anise run along a silken, streamline palate, laced with salinity. Fresh, dry, fragrant, and fun, this is a natural for fragrant Thai / Japanese dishes.

"Fritz Wieninger makes some of the top wines in Vienna, and even this, his basic Gemischter Satz (he also makes a couple of other exceptional old vine/parcel cuvées) is outstanding. 2015 favoured ripeness, power and length, which are all offered here in spades. I like the fleshy, extracted yellow fruit and sweet herbals flavours, the light florality, the unctuousness as well as the cut and precision.
