Tasting Notes

Located in Upper Moutere, Nelson, is our vineyard Whenua Matua. Our vineyard name translates to ‘significant land’. True to its name, this land holds a special place in our hearts. Nelson is known for producing some of the most complex aromatics in the country.

The 2017 vintage offers layers of citrus peel and ripe stonefruit flavours, subtle hints of hazelnut, flint and spicy oak. It is richly textured with a creamy mouthfeel resulting in a delightfully long, dry, and lingering finish.

VINEYARD: Upper Moutere, Nelson, New Zealand. Matau (Fish Hook) & Ika West (Fish) Blocks. Planted 2006-2014. 3.31ha. Ancient Moutere alluvium clay soils, featuring deeply weathered and dissected gravels.
