Tasting NotesA 50/50 blend of Malagousia & Assyrtiko. Each variety ferments separately in stainless steel tanks (controlled fermentation temperature 18º- 21º C) with indigenous yeasts, no oenological substances added. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The produced wines are mixed, racked from the very dense sediments and sur-lie on fine lees for three months. Rich, intense nose, with all natural flavours evolving in mouth. A robust botanical sense combined with stone fruits, leaving in the finish earthy expression with hints of frankincense, lavender and chamomile. |
Critical Praise89 points Treve Ring, gismondionwine.com "Dimitrios Kioutsoukis and his family decided to give up city life to be more connected to nature, moving to Thessaloniki and planting 11 ha of organically farmed vines. All of their wines are low intervention, with native ferment, no sulphur additions and bottling without fining or filtration. This 50/50 assyrtiko and malagousia blend comes from the clay and schist slopes of Kamara-Oraiokastro Thessaloniki. Each variety is vinified separately in stainless, with full MLF, before blending and resting on lees for 3 months. Deeper hued and concentrated with burnished pear, honeysuckle, white peach, apricot, heady quince, anise, and ample fragrant chamomile, with lingering elderflower lining the oily palate, and scenting the concentrated finish. Quite a big impact for 13.5 degrees." |
