Tasting Notes

Bright ruby red with an expansive nose of rose petal, leather, ripe red fruit and tobacco. Elegant yet rich and powerful on the palate with fine mouth-filling tannins, a long complex lingering finish. One for the ages.

Winemaker's Notes:

Total vineyard area is 1.22 hectares facing south-east all planted with the Nebbiolo variety. The white soil is mainly chalky clay, known as the "Marne di Sant'Agata" (30% sand, 55% clay, 15% limestone). From these soils we obtain wines that are elegant, perfumed, with a good ageing potential.

Selective picking of grapes took place on Sept 29-30, 2006. Maceration in wooden (tino) vats with the traditional technique of a "submerged cap". Alcoholic fermentation lasted 27 days.

Ageing took place in large Slovenian oak casks for 24 months, followed by 6 months in steel and 27 months in the bottle prior to release.

The wine was bottled without filtration on June 18, 2009 into Albeisa bottles.
