Tasting Notes

Aged 22 months in oak and new oak is deliberately fairly minimal- around 15% both French and American. The majority is aged in a variety of 1-5 year old barrels, again both French and American. Classic cinnamon and clove spice on the nose. Ripe black cherry and plum too. The palate displays a real savoury meaty character. The fruit is soft, both red and black berry with lots of spice. A long meaty finish with some toasty oak. Full-flavoured with ripe tannins.

Drink 2012 - 2021

Composed of 50% Mourvedre and 50% Grenache, the 2009 -Call Bag- Mourvedre Grenache has a medium-deep garnet-purple color and complex layers of warm berry and spice aromas: mulberries, warm red plums, black raspberries, spice cake, orange peel, dusty earth, white pepper, cloves and game. Medium to full bodied and wonderfully elegant in the mouth, it is beautifully balanced with a medium to firm level of chewy tannins and refreshing acid. The finish is long and spicy. Approachable now, it should cellar to 2021+.
