Tasting Notes

Deep purple in colour. A complex array of concentrated black berries, forest floor, graphite, dark chocolate and sandal wood aromas. Full bodied with youthful drying tannins and intense sappy blackberry fruit. Oak spices, dark chocolate and hints of liquorice are evident as the fruit opens up in the mid-palate. The finish is long and juicy with hints of toast and earth.

Look for this wine to develop over the next 5-10 years developing complexity as it ages.

As the name "Vieux Ceps" suggests this wine comes from a selection of fruit from old vines ranging from 80 to 200 years of age. The Tannat grape makes up 80% of the blend with the remaining 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate-grown hand harvested fruit is fermented and aged in new French oak barriques for a period of 12 months.
