Tasting Notes

The vineyards established by the Empress of France, Eugenia de Montijo in Rioja Alta.

This Reserva comes from selected parcels of 60+ year old bush vines grown on fields covered with a 1 meter deep layer of large stones over sand and clay soils.

Grape bunches are hand harvested, cold macerated and fermented at controlled temperatures before ageing in 70% American and 30% French barriques for 24 months before bottling.

Concentrated aromas of black berries, cigar box, cocoa and orange peel. Intense and elegant on the palate with persistent black fruit and zesty freshness. Ideal with lamb and game meats. Ageing potential of 10 - 15 years.
