Tasting Notes

100% Montepulciano, grown in vineyards of medium mixture (with considerable clay) in the towns of Offida and Acquaviva Picena, in Ascoli Piceno province at 300m ASL. Grapes are harvested by hand at the end of October (quite late), and fermented on the skins for 20 days in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, after which the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in the same tanks. The wine was matured in medium toast, French oak barriques (2nd and 3rd use) for 6 months, and then transferred to 25-35hL French oak barrels (botte), where it aged for another 18 months.
