Tasting Notes

Silvio Carta founded his eponymous company in Baratili San Pietro in the 1950’s, devoting himself to making traditional wines and spirits of the region. Sixty years on, Silvio, together with his son Elio, the latter at the head since 1973, still devote themselves to these aims. Spicy, ripe, sun-kissed red fruits fill the dry, savoury palate of this Cannonau (Grenache), the classic red of the region.

Critical Praise

Really lovely nose here, very floral, with fresh red fruit, all strawberry, fresh and jellied, and delicate silky tannins on the palate. Complexity and depth are excellent - this is one of the most refined and elegant cannonaus I've come across from Sardinia, very well made, precise and evidently quality wine. There's a Burgundian-like silkiness to the texture, while concentration and especially the lingering perfume are impressive. Tasted December 2020. - 92 points, John Szabo, MS, WineAlign.com.
