Tasting Notes

This is the rarest of Vito’s wines, sourced from 40 sarme of Perricone, hence the name Quarantasarme. Sarme is an ancient system of measurement in Sicily, and 40 sarme equates to roughly 80 hectares, situated between Alcamo and Campo Reale. This organic Perricone spent one year in large oak barrels. Ripe and full of the Mediterranean sunshine, this fuller red pours an opaque hue, dense with baked blackberry and plums, dark earth, wild herbs, fruitcake, and pine. Tannins are chewy and wild, housing a juicy palate. Partner this full bodied red with equally dense proteins like grilled lamb.
