Tasting Notes

Frappato is “Sicily's Rarest Red ... a must try for Pinot lovers” –Wine Folly.

Bright ruby colour. Intense aroma of red fruits on the nose. In the mouth: strawberry, cherry, and herbaceous flavours; medium bodied; good acidity; and a long finish.

GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Frappato, “one of the rarest light-bodied red wines” [Wine Folly]

ORIGIN: The countryside surrounding the towns of Salemi and Mazara del Vallo, province of Trapani, near the city of Marsala, Sicily.

AGING: Not aged in oak.

ALCOHOL: 12%.

PAIRING: Neapolitan Margherita pizza, delicately flavored white and red meat dishes (think chicken or veal Parmigiana or Marsala; chicken or pork schnitzel), grilled mushrooms, grilled veggie skewers, and fatty fish (think grilled salmon; Sicilian pasta with sardines; tuna or salmon sashimi).

WHY YOU WANT IT:
This very pleasant, gentle, fruit-forward, easy-drinking wine is a good introduction to red wine for folks who prefer white and rose. If your preference is for plain foods / basic favorites, think Frappato!

THE STORY BEHIND THIS WINE:

The Arini Winery was founded in 1952 and is owned, managed, and run by the Arini family.

Their mission is to obtain the highest possible quality of the wines produced, respecting tradition but also reflecting the preferences of today's consumer, thus achieving wines with an excellent quality/price ratio.

The wines produced come almost entirely from the vineyards owned by the Arini family, which extend over hilly geographical areas located near municipalities such as Marsala. The vineyards are cultivated organically and with respect for the environment.
